Artvin Çoruh University Natural Hazards Application and Research Center (DOĞAM) was established on November 21, 2012 with the cooperation of the relevant academic units of the University in order to conduct research and applications based on scientific basis at national and international level on natural disasters, which is an interdisciplinary subject, and to carry out publishing activities.
At DOĞAM, scientific activities are carried out to determine all physical and environmental factors and processes that are effective in the occurrence of natural disasters, to minimize disaster risks, to prevent or limit the negative effects of hazards, especially in the province of Artvin and in the Eastern Black Sea Region in general.
The scientific publications produced from the projects carried out by DOĞAM contribute to filling the gaps in the literature in the field of disaster management and increasing the number of scientific publications originating from our university. In addition, the information and documents to be produced from the projects are shared with the relevant institutions, contributing to the necessary infrastructure and engineering studies to prevent possible loss of life and property due to natural disasters. On the other hand, DOĞAM, which is a very important center in terms of enabling our University to address the disaster problems of the province and the region and to produce scientifically based solutions to these problems, contributes to the integration of our University with the city and the development of cooperation with the Governorship and Municipalities, especially the Provincial Disaster and Emergency Directorate.
